RSD NAMES PRINCIPAL OF LINEAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, SCHEDULES PARENT MEETING

SHREVEPORT, La. - Today, Recovery School District (RSD) Superintendent Patrick Dobard announced the selection of Nancy Turman as the principal of Linear Leadership Academy in Shreveport for the upcoming school year.

"I’m pleased to have such an outstanding leader join the RSD to serve as principal of Linear Leadership Academy," said RSD Superintendent Patrick Dobard. "Ms. Turman has proven leadership skills and a commitment to academic achievement and kids. I look forward to working with her during the upcoming school year."

Turman has more than 20 years of experience in the education field. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from East Central University in Oklahoma and her master’s degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Her previous positions include serving as an assistant principal, classroom teacher, behavior intervention specialist, instructional specialist, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) specialist, and trainer for the Louisiana Department of Education.

Parents and community members will have an opportunity to meet Turman during an upcoming "Meet the Principal" meeting on Thursday, July 19 at 6 p.m. at Linear Academy, 1845 Linear St.

The Recovery School District-LA is still accepting students for the 2012-2013 school year. To enroll, applications can be turned in at any RSD-LA school. Applications can also be submitted online at www.rsdla.net or can be downloaded and faxed to (225) 342-4053.
