IN CASE YOU MISSED IT… TWO BATON ROUGE AREA EDUCATORS SURPRISED WITH NATIONAL EDUCATION AWARD AND $25,000 PRIZE

BATON ROUGE, La. – Two Baton Rouge area educators received the surprises of their lives today when they each received the Milken Educator Award and were presented with $25,000 checks. Port Allen Middle School Dean of Students Jessica Major and Plaquemine Senior High School Principal Chandler Smith thought they were attending schoolwide assemblies to talk with students about college and career readiness opportunities at their respective schools, but were quickly surprised when Lowell Milken, of the Milken Family Foundation, announced each as a winner of a prestigious 2015 Milken Educator Award and the cash prize.
