1003(G) SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT GRANTS (SIG)

Since 2010, the Louisiana Department of Education has provided Local Education Agencies with the opportunity to apply for School Improvement Grant (SIG 1003g) funding to turn around their struggling schools.

In 2016, LEAs may apply for new awards or continuation awards for all priority or focus schools. The list of eligible schools can be found on the right sidebar. Schools that have not received a SIG grant within the past three years are eligible for new awards. Schools that received a SIG grant in 2013 or more recently are eligible for continuation awards.

The application for 2016 School Improvement Grants can be found on the right sidebar, along with the rubric against which grant applications will be evaluated. Applications are due by Monday, August 22, 2016 at 3:00pm CT and should be submitted by email to David.Shepard@LA.gov. LEAs must submit a PDF application narrative and an excel budget form for each school for which the LEA is applying for a School Improvement Grant. BESE may make School Improvement Grant allocations as early as its August board meeting.

Please email David.Shepard@LA.gov if you have any questions.
