NEW ORLEANS - With the start of the 2012-2013 school year quickly approaching, Recovery School District (RSD) officials are encouraging parents and guardians to complete the school registration process prior to the start of the school year.

"School staff and faculty have been working diligently throughout the summer to prepare for the upcoming school year," said RSD Superintendent Patrick Dobard. "It’s critical that children are enrolled in school and ready to learn on day one, and we encourage families to register their children in school before school starts."

The RSD assigned over 10,000 students to a new school through the OneApp enrollment process. Families entering a school for the first time need to visit the school to complete registration. Families unsure of their child’s placement can visit one of the RSD’s Parent Centers or call the RSD at 1-877-343-4773. Families in New Orleans Parish are also encouraged to visit a Parent Center to learn about their available school options.

"Our staff is excited about the start of the school year, and we here to assist parents with any questions they may have," added Dobard. "With only a few weeks left before the start of school, we encourage parents to either visit or call one of our Parent Centers as soon as possible. Taking this small step will make certain there are no delays for students when school starts and they don’t miss any unnecessary days."

Parents can call the RSD at 1-877-343-4773 with any questions they may have. They may also visit one of the three RSD Parent Centers located throughout the city. The Parent Centers are open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
