BATON ROUGE, La. - Today, Recovery School District (RSD) officials announced students will resume classes at the Crestworth Learning Academy facility on Monday, October 22. Since the beginning of this school year, Crestworth students have been co-located at Glen Oaks Middle School. This action was taken to ensure the site met appropriate state and local facility and occupancy codes.

"We are eager to begin receiving students again as we recognize the desire of the parents, students and the community to reconnect and commence with school activities in the Crestworth building," said Recovery School District Superintendent Patrick Dobard. "We are confident that the work that has been done was necessary and will reduce the risk of hazards to children and lead to a high quality educational experience for all students."

In addition to completing the necessary upgrades to meet code standards, the RSD enhanced the school’s technology capacity with the addition of over 40 new computers. Also included in the renovation efforts are a new paint job, new carpet, upgraded school furniture, and the development of a resource room for parents.

To culminate the renovation efforts, the RSD will host "Crestworth Beautification Day: Welcome Back" on Saturday, October 27, 2012. The school invites staff, parents, and community members to join them in this project.

Interested volunteers can meet event organizers at the school,10650 Avenue F, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. For additional information or questions about the activities, please contact Veronica Sizer at or 225-239-7500.
