Charter Schools Program Grant
In Louisiana, charter schools serve nearly 75,000 students – or more than 10 percent of the public school population. The Charter Schools Program grant will expand the number of high-quality charter schools in Louisiana by:
- Providing critical start-up grants to new charter schools in their pre-opening period or first semester of operation
- Providing dissemination grants to high-quality charter schools in order to share best practices for serving educationally disadvantaged students. Applications for the Charter Schools Program dissemination grants are due December 21, 2018. These grants will enable high-quality charter schools to form communities of practice focused on curriculum implementation. For more information about the dissemination grant and eligibility, reference the application under Hot Topics.
The Department will allocate $7.6 million in Charter Schools Program grants over three years, beginning in the summer of 2016.
