Career and Technical Education

The Department of Education supports district-run Career and Technical Education programs that provide high school students with the knowledge, skills, and training necessary for jobs in the 21st century workplace. Louisiana offers more than 200 courses that allow students to pursue a career endorsement upon high school graduation. Each district determines and offers a unique set of those courses and career pathways.  These include Industry-Based Certifications such as welding, pipefitting, carpentry, and engineering. With state support districts also offer a variety of dual enrollment programs to high school juniors and seniors where they can enroll at technical, community, or four-year colleges and earn college credit while they are still in high school.
